Davante Adams’ outlook on Marquez Valdes-Scantling will pump up Packers fans

Green Bay Packers

Packers receiver Davante Adams has commended receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Since Aaron Rodgers and the Packers won their first Super Bowl together in the 2010-11 season, they have had several playoff campaigns, but the lack of offensive talent surrounding the Cal product has held them back.

Many pundits expected the Packers to finally make big free agent signings or pull off a big trade in order to secure an elite pass catcher, but they failed to do so once again in 2020. Although the Packers don’t have an amazing receiving core, they do have a very talented No. 1 in Davante Adams who amassed 997 receiving yards last season, and caught five touchdown passes.

After Devin Funchess opted out of this upcoming season due to COVID-19 concerns, Green Bay was clearly thin at the position.

But Green Bay does have another receiver who has been the subject of praise from Adams in Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling disappointed last season, but Adams says he is back on track

Coming into 2019, Valdes-Scantling was expected to take a step forward, and he started off the season well, and recording 133 receiving yards in a game against the Raiders in October. But he then faded throughout the second half of the season, ending 2019 in disappointment.

Much of this can be attributed to an ankle and knee injury that Valdes-Scantling suffered, but Adams recently said that he is “taking the right steps” to recovering and having a comeback season in 2020.

This should have Packers fans very excited since Valdes-Scantling has flashed some great potential during his first two years in Green Bay. And with more experience under his belt, along with good health, he could have an amazing season with the Packers.

And it would certainly help take some of the burden off of Rodgers shoulders if he can trust the receivers around him.
