Superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has made things official, declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.
In a move that’s been expected for weeks now, LSU standout wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is ready to focus on his professional dreams. Last month, Chase informed head coach Ed Orgeron he’d be opting out of the 2020 campaign and focus on training for his next step.
On Tuesday, Chase announced that he’s officially declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, where he’s widely expected to be the first receiver off the board and likely a top-five pick after he put up historic numbers for the Tigers last season.
Ja’Marr Chase is expected to be a top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft
Last season for the Tigers, Chase was a human highlight reel. He was a unanimous First-Team All-America pick after he posted 1,780 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns, both setting new SEC records. On top of that, Chase was also named the Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation’s top receiver.
With Chase catching balls from 2020 No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow, the Tigers’ offense was unstoppable throughout the year, which helped them go a perfect 15-0. Things were of course capped off with the 42-25 win over Clemson in the title game. In that victory, Chase was stellar, catching nine balls for 221 yards and two touchdowns.
He was expected to be among the best players in the country this season, but he was without question the biggest name from the college ranks to opt-out of the season to focus on his NFL Draft training. Now, Chase will indeed focus on getting himself ready for the NFL Combine in hopes of impressing multiple front offices. Knowing his abilities, that shouldn’t be a tough task for him.
