Changing head coaches won’t solve all of the Eagles’ problems. They also need to swap these three veterans for rookies in the NFL Draft.

The quarterback controversy pitting Carson Wentz against Jalen Hurts will dominate Eagles’ headlines during the offseason. That isn’t the only position Philadelphia’s front office needs to address. It’s imperative for the franchise to use April’s draft to add quality young talent to the roster.

This is a team that desperately needs to get younger. That’s bad news for several big-name veterans who would like to extend their respective stays in Philadelphia. In particular, the Eagles need to find a way to improve their salary cap flexibility moving forward. That will cost the team several long-tenured starters this offseason.

Big changes are coming in Philadelphia. Eagles fans should keep a close eye on the status of the following three veterans.

3. Jason Peters

The Eagles originally signed Peters to fill a void on the inside before moving him back to his old left tackle spot. Predictably, the 38-year-old lineman’s season ended when he was put on Injured Reserve with a toe injury.

In fairness to Philadelphia’s front office, Peters was only brought back in 2020 due to an injury crisis. It’s imperative that the Eagles not try to repeat that trick in 2021. It’s time to fortify the offensive line via the draft.

Unless Penei Sewell somehow falls to the team at No. 6, it’s not something the Eagles should prioritize in Round 1. Instead, this projects to be a Day 2 and later priority. Grabbing Tennessee guard Trey Brown in Round 2 would be a coup. Watch out for Boston College star Tyler Vrabel as a late-round selection that could make an impact for Philadelphia.
